Re: [Harp-L] Harp sharing

Oh that is a painful lesson in sharing. Perhaps by having some
inexpensive sacraficial harps the problems of sanitation and losing
harps to inexperienced players would be averted. It would also
promote the love of the harp to new players.

This is my solution to sharing. Seems like if I open up my case of
harps folks are just attracted to the multitude of shiny things. I
keep cheap extras I have accumulated and ones I don't like (not
partial to Marine Bands but originally bought some when I got
restarted 3 years ago) in there, too. I hand these out if needed
noting that these are my "loaners". I have about 3 extra keys of
"loaners" and it keeps the crowds at bay. Periodically, I drop them in
some alcohol to keep them clean. Seems to work and it is an easy way
to give the message that my other harps are not "loaners".
Cheers.

What kind of alchohol are u using Jon? In general whats the best
cleaning method to preserve the life of a harp. I'm currently using a
little presidente or jack daniels, not really sure if this help or harms
the instrument. I was going to give out some harps this christmas, so
theres no way the JD method could be used. Any words of advice would be
appreciated
