Hi Smo-Joe,

I agree with you that Newell is not playin' lots of Harp on this
record....but harp players can be tuff critics.....,-)

Oh, for sure Rob, I'm not dissing his playing. In fact, I was bummed out because of the lack thereof

The Harp Players are only a small % of the buying public...

Exactly

Newell had a terrific Voice and I think on this record , Toussaint the
producer was trying to get a wider audience for him. I love his Vocals on
this record but also think the Harp Solos on "The Bum is Mine" and "Mind
over Matter" are perfect for these songs.......His tone was to die for!,-)
Both acoustic & Mic'ed

I agree, but there WERE parts where a little more harp could have been slipped in to the deletion of some other instrument(s). There was NOTHING on 'Willie & The Hand-Jive', and I wouldn't have expected it on that tune (too repititous), but, like I say, a little extra snuck in here and there would have been nice in view of his great (aforementioned) tone. In other words, I was left wanting, craving, hungry, empty, hollow, whatever we harp players call it when we feel that way. I felt cheated out of my 'rightful' full measure of 'Grog'. So, since I couldn't get drunk, I became like a little kid and figured "well, if you won't give me some harp, I won't buy your s**t, na na, nah na na"

I know what you mean tho....after hearin' his 1st two lp's I really
wanted more HARP too....A killer tune w/ NO harp is "I'm Gone" The Meters
covered it too...

Sure, I don't have to have harp on everything. I'm cool with that, but you remember how I described the album cover. It was almost a POSTER BOY for harp. As always, we agree on everything Rob. (Hmm, I wonder why that is?).

all the best, Rob Paparozzi
