RE: [Harp-L] Re: Waxing Rivets for Overbends
I have found pharmeceutical bee's wax at Hobby Lobby, Craft Stores,
Michael's...
I also used a bit of bees wax on my rivets a while back - and the harp
got hot in my car one day - the wax melted off the rivets, and gummed up
the reeds nicely. I would recommend using another "permanent"
substance... like clear laquer (nail poilish).
This is why I know that almost boiling water will not "ruin" your reeds.
Better yet, I'd use a Hohner product and avoid the rivet/tortion/squeel
fix. Better still, get a professioanl to set up your harp. =)
I have the same bee's wax I bought a while back, and aside from sealing
a few combs with it - I don't find it very useful anymore at all.

Subject: [Harp-L] Re: Waxing Rivets for Overbends
Tinus recommends waxing the rivet ends of reeds on his website. I would
like to try it on my old Lee Oskars (which I have gapped well for
overblows but they squeal like a mofo!), but I have not found any pure
beeswax to do it. All I've seen is the "Burt's Bees" stuff, which is
mixed with other ingredients to make lip balm and such. Can someone
tell me where to find pure beeswax in a useful form for harp modding?
