That number only refers to those persons who have subscribed to that
Yahoo!Groups version of Harp-L.  [I think I'm still on it myself, in fact.]

The idea was to be able to read the messages on Yahoo! in case Harp-L's
regular archiving functions went down, as they used to do at one time on an
all too regular basis.  And, some people just preferred that format for
whatever reason.  But, as was explained, one must also subscribe to the list
at the Harp-L website in order to be able to post to the list, [not just at
the Yahoo! Harp-L website,] because a subscription to Yahoo's Harp-L is not
really a subscription to Harp-L.
