[Harp-L] off list abuse

While it's not an explicit list policy I'm going to mention that it's not
ok to harass list members privately using the addresses you've obtained
via your list membership.  Virtually all reputable isp's do not allow the
use of their connection to the internet for abusive e-mails.  I violates
the fair use provision of the subscriber agreement.  It's also against the
laws of many states and the United States governemnt.  Over the years I've
been privvy to some amazingly abusive posts.  Some directed towards me
personally others directed to members.  I'm sorry that unrestricted list
membership can allow some very disturbed individuals to be subscribed to
the list.  Many people use the anonymity of the internet to indulge their
abusive tendencies.  I find this to be cowardly at best.  I encourage
anyone receiving this type of mail to forward it intact to the abuse
