Regardless of what I wear to a gig, I almost always
dress way down for practice. I have to drive an hour
and a half and if I am going to play for three or four
hours I want to be comfortable. So a t-shirt and
running pants it is.
Anyways...
Last weekend the guitar player started laughing at me
when I took a solo during a slow blues. I peeked and
he pointed at me so the bass and drums would look.
Eventually I understood. My stomach was moving around
quite a bit. It is less obvious in a button up shirt,
but from my breathing and vibrato my Buddha was all
over the place in a t-shirt.
I am not very heavy set...just a couple vanity pounds
(only a couple, seiriously), but I have to admit my
stomach looks funny when I have a slow vibrato going
or if I take a long breath.
About the only disadvantage to breathing almost 100%
of the time from your gut.
I am going to go do some sit ups now. Maybe by some
bigger shirts too.
