In C Concert (C Harp) C would be the first 1st , G would be 2nd and D would
be 3rd.........
Don't confuse the "positions" with the "harp", if The band is playing in C
concert then , F is the correct 2nd position harp to use. If the Band plays
in F then Bb is the correct 2nd position harp to use. But if the band was
playing in F and you wanted to play in 1st position, you'd use an F harp.
but when learning your positions on Diatonic Harp, it's best to think of it
on a "C Harmonica". Another words if the band played in any of these keys
listed below, and you only had a C harmonica, these would be your respective
positions.
Playing (on a C Harp)
go up in fifths
C=1st Position
G=2nd Position
D=3rd
A=4th
E=5th
B=6th
Gb(F#)=7th
Db(C#)=8th
Ab(G#)=9th
Eb(D#)=10th
Bb(A#)=11th
F=12th
I hope this helps
best,
rob p
