I'm coming in a little late on this thread, so pardon me if this has 
already been mentioned.  Years ago my voice teacher taught me to bite the 
tip of my tongue in case dry mouth sets in.  It triggers your salivary 
glands to kick in.  And the best tip, of course, is to keep a cup of water 
handy.

I usually have the opposite problem, too much spit!
