Hold the CX12 in the crook of your fingers with the holes facing towards the floor in one hand. With your other hand, set the flat of your thumb on the retaining plate that stretches across the back. If you'll look at it closely, you'll see that the retaining plate has two metal tangs on each side that slip into holes in the CX12 body. If you press with your thumb and slide the retaining plate toward one of the ends, the other end should pop out. It's a little tricky, but just keep jiggling the retaining plate and it should pop out.
