[Harp-L] Re : Re : amp and speakers

Larry :

The truth bares out this fact on speakers and their " personal " sound .

To say a Weber is better than a Jensen original or a repro , or compared to JBL or what ever , its a personal thing you must decide on as far as the speaker in question's sound and how you like it or not . Its how it feels and sounds to you that makes it the right choice or not and not an opinion of any one including myself that will make the big difference to your ears over all .

>From the years at it in the sound & music game , I have listened to guys with JBL's in their Fenders and hear them swear that this is the living end , and then another will swear its not going to sound right with a set of those most expensive JBLs .

I worked 7 years in a audiophile environment , I heard just about every conceivable speaker set up in Fenders , Ampegs , Orange , Randall , Vox , Leslie , you name I heard em . When I got my first real fire breathin monster tube amp in a Marshall 60 watt tube amp that used 2 12" Celestions I was flipped out over what they sounded like to me , they ended up being my personal bench mark reference . One day I auditioned them next to a Cavin 60 watt tube amp with a single 12" British Blaster , aside from the physical pop the Celestion twin 12 had , it was a toss up between them and a splittin hairs affair . I opted for the Cavin because it cut it very convincingly , was lighter to lug around and sold my Marshall that was breaking my back .

You going to have to listen to all of the different types of speakers you think are relevant to realistically make the call and I mean all of them personally one by one and side by side if you possibly can to make the call my man , and have a ball doing it too . I know I would be havin fun doing it !

Speakers and ears relate to one another like prescription glasses for the eyes . What your eyes see may not be what other eyes eyes see till they have been corrected if they have a problem and need a prescription and ears are no different .

One last note . Because my ears have been considered by others as a really good reference points to judge speakers and other related things in audio , you may be able to use " someone else's ears " that are considered like a reference like mine have been to help you out , I know this happens a lot because I have been hired to do just that by audio device inventors and a few other types of audio related work . But to be honest I think it still boils down to You and not Someone else , but , I did take the money :) LOL

Hope I help :)

Sincerely :

Hurricane Ramón
