Hopefully, the beeswax isn't acting as a gasket. There shouldn't be
any loose wax inside the harp anywhere. The point of the wax is to
have it be absorbed into the wood, and all the wax on the outside
surface of the comb should be removed. If there's any wax on the
outside of the comb, you're asking for trouble the first time the
harp gets hot, or even after a little use. The loose wax will
migrate into the reeds, and you'll have a mess.
If you're waxing combs, remove as much wax from the outside of the
comb as you can before you assemble.
