They are on the side the rivets are not. They are a pain to work on
and do not offer much difference in tone.  If anything they add more
stress to the  reed.

A few years ago, George Brooks, Howard Levy and I were sitting around
my kitchen table comparing tone between the two types of harps.  My
tone on a single plate Filisko was nearly identical to Howard's
double plated Filisko.  Since that day Howard is using the single
plated Filiskos.

The double plated do help slightly with the low keyed harps but not
enough to dealing with the extra set of problems.  IMO.
