[Harp-L] Chris Bauer Music - September Mailing

It?s been a while, but things have finally settled down to the point where the Chris Bauer Monthly Newsletters can start once again. For those that haven?t heard, Chris moved to California in the end of July. He will be living in the Valencia area (Santa Clarita Valley), and has already begun looking into Jazz clubs and possible gigs. As soon as
something comes up, we?ll let everyone know.

Chris was able to go to SPAH, on August 18-20 in St. Louis, MO. This was his first time attending a SPAH, so being able to perform made it an even better experience. A special thank you to Paul Davies and Doug Tate for making things work out.
At SPAH, Chris not only performed, but was a panelist in a couple of different seminars.

The first seminar was about Harmonica Trios ? the panelists were Chris, Bud Boblink, Frank Warner and Phil Caltabellotta. Yes, four people gave their experience on working and playing with Harmonica Trios. Thanks to Clint Hoover for including Chris on the panel of his seminar on Chromatic Jazz. It was a good time, and you can never stop learning.

Chris played on Friday night with the Carol Beth True trio, and what a treat that was! He?s played with Carol before, which has been fantastic in its own right. But to play with Carol Beth?s own trio was a simply wonderful time. Everyone seemed to enjoy the music, the audience as well as Carol Beth and her group. Chris had a couple of special guests come up and play with him. Bud Boblink and Frank Warner played ?Tender is the Night? with him, and then he called up the wonderful Jim Lohman, and they played ?September In The Rain.? Again thanks to all that helped to make this happen.

On Saturday of SPAH, there was an afternoon presentation of Trios and More, hosted by Jim Lohman. Chris was asked to play a couple of tunes there with Frank and Bud, and everyone got on stage at the end. Along with all these occasions to play, the hallway playing, Charles Spranklin hosted the Jazz Jam on Thursday and Friday nights. It was great to get up there and play with Charles, Phil, Rob Papparozzi stopped in on Friday evening, and everyone else that stopped in. There are pictures up on the website www.chrisbauermusic.com of all these events. Thanks again to everyone in SPAH and the St. Louis area for inviting Chris.

The big news is that Chris? new CD ?How High The Moon? is being officially released with this newsletter. For those that have seen Chris at any of the festivals this year, you may have already seen or heard this CD. But for those that haven?t, ?How High The Moon? is Chris Bauer and Friends, Silky Joe Kiernan on drums, John Licitra on guitar, and Ralph Pugliese on electric keyboard. Please check out Chris? website for more information. It was recorded at Empire Studios in Farmingdale, NY. If you have a copy of it, Chris would love to know what you think of it. If you don?t have a copy, you can order from Chris directly, or from www.harmonicasandstuff.com.

That?s all for now, and as always, thank you all for your interest and support!
