RE: [Harp-L] Re : Symmetric intervals and bleeding lips
Good point - but way, way back when I was in high school - a girl named "Choo-choo" (of all things... )showed me a few tricks... one of them was taking some sweet oil and applying it to the area of the harp where your lips slide around. She had soft lips. Her harp playing was very different - in that she could play it either right way up, or upside down. Very talented girl.
Sweet oil is a really light oil - so you could use any thin, non-toxic oil. Olive oil, or grapeseed oil might work.
I personally have not used this in quite some time - although I have some around thanks to Ed Jones who bought me another bottle of it. Thanks, Ed!
This may help ease the pain until you get old and calloused like me. heh.

" Not really related, but a couple of my primary harps (A and C) are
both Blues Harps and after playing just a couple of hours, my lips are
completely raw with these. I can't buy new harps...yet. Again, anyone
have any ideas? Thanks . "
