[Harp-L] Recording gear

Can anybody suggest some programs for recording on my
cp?  I'd like to record my playing over various mp3s. 
There is also the chance of wanting to record a
practice or gig with a band in the distant future. 
Right now my main conern is recording my practice.  I
have a harp commander, which I understand, will work
for a preamp into the cp.
