[Harp-L] re: Does anybody make a high A harmonica?

M. Nessmith doesn't like the high A or G harps. I have been
using high Gs for some time as an alternative to the regular
G. Why and when? On ballads or quiet slow blues the high G
can be played sweetly and softly and it can be beautiful. On
loud tunes when the low G doesn't seem to cut through, the
high G will. Caveat, do be especially careful with volume
and band balance, and the highest octave has to be handled
with taste. But I think it's very do-able. I've probably
never played the high G in first position in public. For a
Jimmy Reed tune in G the regular (low) G is the cat's meow!

Harmonica, perhaps the only
instrument on which the player
can't ever see what the heck
he/she is doing!
