hi all,
i am forwarding this e-mail from Scorcher on to the
list, as per his request. i feel i should quickly
explain he's no longer active on Harp-L, but since
this disc topic concerns a number of Harp-L's members,
and since the following reply to the recent thread
about him also serves as an update on the disc's
whereabouts, it seems appropriate to fw'd his
response. what follows is his email:
Frank,
You posted this slanderous crap onlist:

were conned into sending a

getting the disc, I have just about

The last time you contacted me, I responded the SAME
DAY.
Here was your email.

And here was my response:

month ago; I

Frank,
I guess it's understandable that you're out of
patience.
I guess I really have no reasonable defense.
But I'd like to correct a couple of mis-statements:
I have never conned anyone; I'm not starting this
year.
It was made clear that the money you sent was NOT a
purchase, but a
CONTIBUTION that won't BEGIN to cover my costs.
Whether you believe this or not, I frankly don't give
a damn.
The ONLY reason I cashed the checks is that I was lead
to understand
(by my bookkeeper) that I needed to cash them before
they 'expired'.
I re-itterate: when the disc is finished you, and all
who contributed
ANYTHING to the effort will get a copy.
I have stopped giving estimates on the completion date
because MANY
MANY other things in my life became MUCH MORE
IMPORTANT.
This is not to say that your money is not important,
only that my life
is almost infinitely more complicated, busier, and
feverishly-pitched
than when I spent most of my spare time (and a good
deal of my
"working" time) following these email lists, and
offered to compile
The Disc.
I no longer have time for any of them, including one I
was a
co-moderator of, and another I helped "found".
Taking a cheap shot at me on-list instead of
contacting me directly is
just plain chicken-shit, Frank.
If you want to discuss it with me in a more manly,
direct way, send me
an email - I'l send you my phone number - you can call
me COLLECT.
Better yet, I'll send you my address - let's talk
man-to-man.
No more respect.
Scorcher
