Dear New Friends,
I recently joined SPAH and have been reading the messages on this
site. Today is the first message that I am sending. I am a 70 years old
and have been trying to learn harmonica technique for over 5 years. I don't
foresee myself jamming at gigs. I just want to amuse myself and hopefully
others when I am old. I play the Super 64 Chromatic and like the song books
that have Broadway, movie, and old favorite songs. I have a hard time
actually memorizing any songs. I practice about 1 hour each day. What is
the best way to memorize songs? I will probably have several questions in
the future. Shortly after I started playing, I visited a harmonica band and
they were all so good and played by ear that I was a coward and only went
the one time. I hear that they have broken up and don't meet together
anymore. I should have swallowed my pride and stuck with it. Thanks in
advance for any tips that are sent my way.
