Hey list, what's your opinion of these harps? Being a mostly diatonic guy, and really liking Herings Vintage 1923s, I thought that the vintage 40 would be a great way to get the chromatic sound with familiar tuning. After I purchased one I was pretty underwhelmed - decent tone but very poor response and less than spot- on tuning. To make matters worse, when I tore it down to adjust some of the balky reeds, getting all the screw holes to line back up for re-assembly was a chore. Did I get a bad one or is this a case of good idea but poor execution? I realize it's never going to play like a diatonic, and a different technique is required for a chrom type harp, but this puppy is going to take a lot of tweaking to get it right. Comments, suggestions ?
