Well, I know what you mean. gapping may help ya, but diaphrgm is the key. Gotta push with your diaphragm while drawing air. The hardset you push the easier will come the bend and the growling.
Some folks may find better words to describe it in english than me but I think they'll agree saying that diaphragm work is essential.
