Hey GCG,
The Shure PE53 is a great harp mic. I have owned at least 4 of them and have
always found that they have a big, thick, powerful tone to them. I would say
it's worth getting it worked on. I would check with Larry Price at Midwest
Microphones for repair info. He did some work on a Shure PE53V (the PE53 with the
volume control) which turned out very nice. The Shure PE53 is a great harp mic
and worth getting it up to speed.
