In retuning chros to diminished I've tuned reeds down a minor third. I use what I call the 
blob method: put some 2-min. superglue on the tip of the reed - not too close to the 
edge! - then sprinkle brass powder on until the note is too low, then file/sand off the 
excess to bring it up to pitch.
