Especially his connection to the "presumed dead" materials debate.

Perhaps there is a parallel to be drawn here.

Could it be possible that the fact that some players think comb materials 
make a difference has something to do with the fact that some players think 
reedplate thickness makes a difference?

Gets us back to exploring what the players hear vs. what the listener hears.
Some of us pretend to understand that.

Not me.
