Crystal vs. Ceramic Impedance question

Hi
I know that Crystal mics respond better to higher impedances, alot of cats 
suggest 5Meg, some like a little less.  Are ceramics essentially the same?  
I've got a mic setup with a nice ceramic element and am wondering if I 
should set up one of the inputs on my amp with a 5Meg resistor for use with 
it?  Thanks.
