Start at low volume and rehearse the tunes at low volume.
Learn various versions of "happy birthday", Beatles, Elvis,...
Get a schedule from the organizer and propose music types for each time
period.
For example: Jazz during cocktails, Acoustic during dinner,
rock/blues/R&B after.
This will help you pick your band. For example, you may have a
sax/flute/harp player that can wander around and play solo during the
cocktail hour, ...
and have fun!
