RE: Five Minutes/day

ERIC: <<Amen!

Hi, y'all don't know me - as this is my first post - but I am a firm
believer in Iceman's five minutes a day discipline. I have been using it
ever since he showed a group of harmonica students I was watching at Jon
Gindick's Jam Camp in Skokie.

It works. My harmonica students - (all four of them, heh) - are able to show
me results when we focus on simple goals that can be achieved in a week's
time, for instance. I find this method so much better for getting results
than any other I have ever tried. It works for ME as well.>>

We NEED threads like this one on Harp-L. I've been following it assiduously
all through and have wanted to wade in, though that silly sub-thread about
ADD in Americans, or whatever that was, put me off. But I think that Eric -
and Iceman - are hitting the nail on the head when they ever so gently, in a
non-didactic way, and thoroughly appropriately, use the word "discipline."
I just wish I could impose on myself some kind of regularity about my
practising. I don't strictly NEED to practise as I don't do this for money,
and it's just my hobby, etc. etc. (any more excuses for not practising?),
but a little bird tells me that a tiny daily investment would pay dividends
beyond all expectations. So, thanks for the inspiration, gents. From now
on, 3.55 to 4pm is pure harp time. Or even to 4.05, 4.10, 4.15......
