Re: SPAH

Thanks for the support, Doug. I loved my SPAH convention experience, and
would go back in a heartbeat. I am suffering from the double-jeaopardy of
going to work in a school district that starts VERY early (students start
August 4th in Plano, TX., teachers the Monday prior). It is probably
easier for a person under 18 to get away for a few days for a convention of
this type (provided the parents approve) than those who teach. Getting a
week off just two weeks into the year is pretty much impossible for the
teacher.

I enjoyed many of my experiences in the computer business, but when I look
back at the 20+ years I spent in programming, it was the eduational
products and projects that I enjoyed the most. Working with research
libraries and elementary schools, librarians and classroom teachers,
creating tools, educational titles, and educational hardware was always the
most satisfying, if not the most financially rewarding. I'm looking
forward to getting in to where the rubber meets the road, as they say. And
yes, the money's not great, but I can always build harps to make up the
difference ;-)
