Thanks for that John. Yes, if I could play as well as Max, I think I'd be quite happy to stick to C/C#. In the kind of
show tune/jazz standards repertoire that Max worked with, one is not always 'in C' anyway, as the key centre modulates.
I prefer the expression used by an old country picker I know whenever asked what Key a song is 'in': 'It's out of G,
mate'.

You may well be right... Max Geldray LOVED playing in "C" now and then he
would press that button and go to "C#"
But who cares? He made wonderful music.... I don't suppose he had a case full
of a dozen 270's in each and every key.... Max Geldray was and still IS a
great harmonica player.... One of the best EVER in my opinion!
