RE: melodica in blues - Paul Oscher cd

paul oscher told me he plays the hohner 36 melodica with a hohner melodica pick up
(hohner mic 36) they dont make this pick up anymore - he got his in the sixties. 
 
paul's been playing the melodica since his days in muddy waters band. muddy used to call the melodica a "piano harp" and paul played it on the bands theme song "chicken shack "on the head of the tune then he would switch to marine band for the rest of the song. this is recorded on "muddy waters live at mr. kellys" cd the name of the track is mudcat but  its really chicken shack. 
 
paul also had a left hand bass melodica which he attached to the  36 melodica and experimented with playing both at the same time on songs like honey dripper, but he said he didn't continue with that because it was too much like playing an accordion with single bass lines and took too much wind. i think paul oscher was the first person to record the melodica in the blues. latimore recorded with it several years later on his version of stormy monday.

on pauls new cd he plays the melodica on two cuts the title cut "alone with the blues" and on track 17 "giving thanks " a gospel duet with david maxwell on piano. paul is not using a leslie effect he is actually playing the melodica through a leslie speaker. it sounds like a hammond b3.

this may have been asked before but does anyone know specifically how he gets that sound from his rack? any knowledge of what kind and what method?
