I am inspired to send this.
Artistic vision dictates finding oneself, musically, and waiting or
looking to the market to find a need for your muse.
Getting gigs recommends this, however.
Identify a need in the market place first and adapt your skills to fit
that need.
Successful gigging is in direct proportion to your contribution to
society.
For example, if you have condo villages nearby, create a show of
Sinatra standards, hire a female singer to accompany you. Or use a real
jazz drummer to back up your harmonica band.
If you have a pizza parlor or neighborhood bar, offer to host a jam.
Hire a guitar player to back you up and get the word out. Do it for
half price for a specified time.
Don't let the lack of gigs keep you from gigging.
Find the hidden opportunities and develop your musical skills to be the
best. Whatever it takes.
Would you rather be the giraffe (or chameleon) or would you rather be
the dinosaur?
Adapt yourself and grow to reach the fruits.
Anyone have any good stories of finding gigs in tough times?
peace and harps,
randy singer
