hello all,
in the true spirit of christmas, i bought myself a
new toy (in all fairness, it's just that no one else
could figure out how to log on to the internet and get
it for me ;). i got a new X V-Amp, one of the amp
modellers we discussed recently. consider it an RP200
lite, of sorts. it has the same build (i.e., it's a
floor unit, with an expression pedal). it has a more
limited number of permutations available to it, but
that's ok since it's cheaper and it looks like it will
fulfill my needs. anyway... i plugged it in using just
my headphones in the out and tried the "TubeScreamer"
pre-set (modelled after the Ibanez foot pedal). it
sounded amazing. a great overdriven and crunchy sound
for rock or very modern blues. it also sounded like a
recipe for feedback when played through actual
speakers :)
as i learn more about the unit, i'll post some
kind of review. in the meantime, i have a question
about what to play this thing through (at home, for
practice, besides head phones). i have a couple of
amps available, a very small solid state and a small
champ-style tube amp. both will color the sound with
their own distortion, as i understand it, so i'm
trying to find a "clean" option. what if i run the
device through my home stereo? would that be an option
or might i fry something?
thanks all,
--Jp
