[Harp-L] Re: Hohner CX-12 Chromatic 'Sticks'
Hi, once again
Jim asked for a possible reason of his wrong working holes 6/7
and Vern and Steve suggested that the valves could be the malefactors.
Now, Steve advised:
< A good test is to see whether warming up the harmonica
< improves things.>
Hey, why that? Jim mentioned the blows showing the mistakes. That
means that the valves are on the plate outside because the blow reeds
are on the inside. Therefore, playing before a mirror immediately reveals
whether it´s the valve or not.
And, BTW, to warm up a harp for better function is superflous and
ineffective. It´s superfluous in case of blow reeds because the breath
is warm enough and ineffective in case of draw reeds because the
inhaled cold air immediately balances the warming.
