My favorite solution for cleaning harps is still chlorine (bleach),
you swim in pools and people pee in them; people accidentaly swallow
pool water (yuch) - and no-one dies, besides its cheap, available and
easy. I've used this on old bike bottles for over 20 years and it
leaves a nice fresh taste :-)

I have LONG used bromine, but since it is the "big brother" of
chlorine (and VERY dangerous), I never mentioned it because some
people don't know what they're doing and could get seriously hurt. I
have also used IODINE which is an even "Bigger brother". The entire
family goes (toxically) something like this:
   1....Florine
   2....Chlorine
   3...Bromine
   4...Iodine
   5...Astatine
