RE: [Harp-L] Non-blues diatonic players

Hi Chris,

Allen Holmes is one the harmonica player that I consider the most that I have ever met.
But, thought He likes to play jazz, He has sent me one his CDs which is a real Blues Harmonica Solos CD. He plays also few tracks playing both Stand Double Bass and Low Keyed Harmonicas.

Great stuff! Really great Stuff! And I hope that He will finish that CD soon (I only have the original project and some tracks are unfinished).

So, just to say that Allen is turning to Blues Harmonica.

Meanwhile, I do not post about it only to go " against you" but alos because Allen Holmes is a great harmonica player not enough known from the world, and this is an opportunity to talk about him.

His CD " Doris In Mind" is simply great. Good harmonica, but not to much. Allison's lovely voice fit perfectly to the tunes.
Really, a good CD.
Get it if you do not have it yet.

Some are better than others. Some are bluesier than others but there
is something to be learned from each of the following except perhaps
MoQuan the Enigmatic - I actually hesitated to add it to the list.

Out of the ones listed I personally prefer Howard Levy, George
Brooks, Rosco, Michael Peloquin and Madcat - all have been very
inspiring or have delivered wanton beatings in one whey or another :-)

The list is by no means complete but is a good start....
