RE: [Harp-L] raphael and stardust
I was talking to Mickey earlier and he really wanted to come to spah this
year. Last year he was on the program but at the last moment Willie booked a
gig and off they went. His brother Ken is a member of our Dallas Hoot and at
the convention last year was on the phone with him all day . Mickey wanting
to know who was there , and what were they doing now.
The spah board needs to stay after him, he would be great.
Charlie McCoy was at spah a couple or years back and that was the highlight
of my harmonica playing to see him and talk with him .
That's what spah is all about.........Jerl Welch

Subject: [Harp-L] raphael and stardust
Minor mystery solved: Kim Fields' "heavy breather" noting of great Mickey
Raphael solos on Nelson's "Stardust Memories" [sic] does seem to be a typo.
The # CBS 35305 that Fields supplies, while not being the number on current
in-store version of Nelson's "Stardust," is an old number that was used for
'Stardust." (Seems like real Willie and Raphael fans already knew darn well
there was no such critter as "Stardust Memories" by them!)
Good to see the Raphael and McCoy posts that came up.
For the few who may not know, Kim Fields' book is terrific.
Thanks. --john k.
