Re: Vamping



Let's hear it for vamping.
There should be more people who play unaccompanied. This doesn't
mean that everyone will, but I still see the diatonic harmonica as a 
chord-based instument (no need to argue about this point, it's my 
opinion, and I already know it differs with many subscribers). Anyway,
I almost always vamp when I practice. I don't even think about it anymore.
It's been an integral part of my technique, mainly because I never really
played accompanied. I learned to play by accompanying myself (Sugar
Mama was a huge influence actually). I don't play chicago blues much
anymore, but I still challenge myself with vamping on Cotton's High
Compression every now and again. My roots are still blue, baby!
