You never know what is in the mind of the producer/artist/mixing engineer.

We, as a group, have a higher understanding and regard for harmonica than the 
"citizens" that make up the other 99.9% of music listeners/buyers.

I did a session once in which, having done some homework, my harmonica part 
was a lovely linear phrase that complimented the vocal. When I arrived, the 
artist and her producer wanted "wah wah wah" and wouldn't consider using my 
ideas.

Give'em what they want and wait for your own project to be creative.
