I pretty much agree with Steve. The reason it was a little flat this =
year was the people who were missing ( FJM, Tom Albanese, Alec, Doug =
Randell,Dennis Gruenling, Beth , Iceman & to many more.)   Yes' we could =
have had a good traditional blues & country entertainer.   But all in =
all I had a great time & because there were fewer people.  I got to =
spend a little more time with those who were there.  I saw alot of old =
friends &  made some new.   I felt like crying when it was over.   Which =
is a good thing.   If I had one wish it would be to spend the rest of my =
life at one of those midnight blues jam's.   It's what I enjoy the most. =
  Not only the playing.  But just being there with all the love the =
flows around that room.  I agree Ben Nathanson is an amazing harmonica =
player & a really special person.  Hanging with Rosco, George, Allan, =
Richard, Jimmy, &  Mr. Duck Tape  is an honor.  Filisko is ok too.  As =
you can see Buckeye is about the people for me.  So I guess I had a =
wounderful time....

  I hate to be the first with a buckeye report, but here goes.
  I came, I saw, and as always got my butt handed to me by all the great =
players who show up here.
    Buckeye was in a different hotel this year, a nicer one, but it was =
much the same as always. And that's a good thing. A few of the regular =
attendees were missing though. No Tom Albanese. No Alec Drachman, just =
to name a couple.=20
  The music was good, which is to be expected. I did feel the scheduled =
entertainment was a little light this year, in terms of names. John =
Costa did a great job and called up 13-year-old Kaleena Hutchins, a girl =
from Arkansas who has improved dramatically since last year. She played =
two songs with John.
  I would have liked to see someone more of interest to blues and =
country players. Frederick Yonnet performed and was scary good. He hung =
out the whole time, took part in jam sessions, and is a joy to watch. =
Not my cup of tea with his style, but very very good. But he performed =
two years ago too, so it was just interesting to see how he has evolved. =
And he does a great Steve Wonder impression.
    The Filisko teach-in is always great. Richard Sleigh showed me some =
bluegrass and opened my eyes  a little. Also, he gave me some practice =
tips that will help me. Roscoe showed that he's not only amazing on =
harp, but his philosophical ramble during one teach-in was worth the =
price of admission.=20
    It did seem to me, overall, that this year's event was a little =
'flat" and I can't pinpoint any one reason. Maybe it was just me, being =
tired and overstressed.  It's still my favorite thing to do all  year =
long. And hanging with list members Tom McGovern, Hal 'itosis" Iwan and =
Ken Hildebrandt was more than a little fun.=20
     Great jam session on  Thursday night. List member Ben Nathanson =
continues to take no prisoners when it's his turn to shine.
