How many recent "Tribute to...." releases are out there (in blues, jazz,
rock, etc)?
Of these, truthfully, how many are worth listening to repeatedly?
I know the argument about "in the ears of the beholder", but I feel the % of
those types of releases that are soulfullysatisfying is a very small one.
However, very high % of originalstuff stands up to repeated listening.
Since I budget my CD purchases and, as an old curmudgeon, feel my
listeningtime shouldn't be frivolouslywasted, I take my music seriously.
Just heard a sampler of the new Clapton CD. I would classify it as "Smooth
Blues".
