Chicago Blues harmonica pioneer Jazz Gillum was born on this day in 1904.
Gillum learned to play the harmonica from the church deacon who raised him
after he was orphaned at an early age. Gillum began playing professionally
at the age of fourteen and made his way up to Chicago where he became one of
the founding fathers of the developing Blues scene.
