As I recall the news reports at the time, it was an
overdose of heroin.  I remember being amazed that he
was still on the stuff.  Now maybe it wasn't exactly
an OD but an accumulation of crap through the year.  I
do know it was a shame because he was a great harp
player...and even though he didn't know it, he taught
me most of the licks I know.
