RE: Interesting website

Yeah I've worked on Big Walter material through the years, and I
can testify to the effort I know Beth has put into studying Walter's music
to give such an authentic interpretation. I had the pleasure of informally
jamming with her at the Buckeye on "Big Walter's Boogie" a few years back,
and she was on the money!

I'm always amazed when I listen to both Walters. They and so many
others were copping John Lee Williamson early on, and then they both
developed into true geniuses with totally unique harmonica styles
themselves. Today all blues players cop their stuff to some degree just as
they did with their mentor. However, I could never conceive of coming up
with something so unique and influential as either of them(or John Lee
Williamson for that matter). I don't think there are many today who even
come close to that kind of pure genius. It's always a pleasure for me just
to try to honor their memory in my playing. There are other great
interpreters like Beth Kohnen who can do them much more justice than I can,
but I think all us blues harp players must always remember how much we
really do owe to them. Best regards,

Allen

Beth Kohnen's the harmonica player, just shows what you can do if you put
your mind to it."

Great tone and she definitely cops Big Walter's sound as close as any I've
heard.
