Actually, it is CoolEdit _Pro_ that has become Adobe Audition. C.E.P. is way
more powerful than CoolEdit 2000 which has been discontinued. It is a full
multi-track studio that rivals ProTools in it's features. There was an
article in Tape OP magazine about 6 months ago, where the author said that
CoolEdit Pro 2.1 was every bit as powerful as ProTools, but worked better
than ProTools when used on standard computers without super fancy sound
cards. Even before Adobe took over, CoolEdit Pro cost $300. Being able to
upgrade from CoolEdit 2000 (which was only $30 or so) for only $99 is a real
bargain.

I have no stake in either company, but I've used CoolEdit Pro for my home
studio for a number of years now, and I love it.
