Not any more.  Syntrillium (the author of CoolEdit 2000) was acquired 
by Adobe, and CoolEdit is now Adobe Audition.  It sells for $300, 
unless you own a copy of CoolEdit, in which case you can upgrade for 
$99, which is still about $60 more than CoolEdit sold for (I think I 
remember it being $39, but that might be my old age setting in).
