While the various models of Polyphonia are more notably used for 
glissandos and special effects, that is not to say they are not a 
"melody instrument". Even Johnny Puleo used them primarily for 
glissandos, but there are others who used them for melody very 
effectively. Probably the most notable would be the late Leon "Cappy" 
LaFell, of the Cappy Barra Harmonica Gentlemen. Poly was his primary 
instrument, and he also did vocals, and was one of the founding members 
of the Windy City Harmonica Club. He and Al Fiore (chordist with the 
Harmonicats), both led the WCHC Harmonica Orchestra for a number of years.
