Re: Who brought the blues to the sixties

>Okay... here's another twist on this discussion.

   Born Malta (1942), spent 42-44 Malta, 44-46 N.Y.C., 46-48 Rome, 48-50 N.Y.C.,
50-52 Trieste (It), 52-54 N.Y.C., 54-56 Naples, 56-58 N.Y.C., 58-60
Paris. It was in PARIS that I first became (acutely) aware of Blues.
Yes, I had heard it before but it was there that it "grabbed me". The
group was AMERICAN and I don't recall the name. The harp player was
Caucasian? he "might" have been Hammond Jr.?

1960-61 (after graduation) "Hoboed" around the south for 10 months.
Got to see
1..Rice Miller
2..Wilhemina Mae Thornton
3..Lazy Lester (MY favorite)
6..Howlin Wolf
   1961 (Chicago) Got to see
1..Little Walter
2..Sonny Terry
Over the years I have added countless others which include (but NOT
limited TO:)
1..Jimmy Reed
2..James Cotton
3..Jr. Wells
and about a hundred others. (But NEVER Big Walter, Butterfield)
It was approx 62 that I gravitated to Jazz, (with blues a faint
second fiddle)
