PBS Blues Series

Interesting comments all around. I agree with Tom Ellis that the British Blues bands
importance in "bringing blues back to the US" was somewhat overstated. Personally,
Canned Heat and Taj Mahal brought the blues into my adolescent consciousness more than
the Stones, Mayall, Yardbirds, Clapton or Hendrix. Which isn't to say that those
British blues didn't contribute too.

As for the series overall, the vintage clips of black artists are compelling, the rest
is pretty spotty.

Clint Eastwood's "Piano Blues" was quite interesting to watch. But very little of it
had much to do with the blues. Pete Jolly? Dave Brubeck? Come on! But damn, gimme
some more of that Otis Spann footage! I could watch 3 hours of that!
