There are far safer ways to handle beeswax. Heating a flamable
substance, even to a low temperature, over an open flame is a
disaster waiting to repeat itself. It is far safer to heat beeswax
on an electric element on a low setting. Safer still is a double
boiler, where the wax is further separated from the heat. In all
cases, keep the heat settings as low as you can to achieve melting.
There are devices made specifically to melt wax (used in the
cosmetology industry), which presumably are safety rated.
