Daily Almanac - May 11

Composer Irving Berlin was born on this day in 1888. Besides writing
hundreds of songs which sound great on the harmonica, Berlin also endorsed
harmonicas as being one of the best instruments for introducing young people
to music.

Harmonica player Jerry Murad died on this day in 1996. Murad began playing
the harmonica as a youngster, growing up on Chicago's west side. It was as
a member of the Walla Walla Harmonica Club that he met Al Fiore and Pete
Pedersen. The rest is history.

That's all I have for today. Have fun and practice.
