My buddy Tim posted about the Beatles harmonica on Ebay. He knows I'm an avid
collector and he's probably just trying to get me in trouble ;-)
What makes a relatively worthless (from a playing standpoint) harp so
valuable? First, its an unused, mint condition, still on the card item. Also,
and probably more importantly, you have cross-collector bidding going on,i.e.,
Beatles collectors are bidding against harmonica collectors. The same thing
happens when harmonicas depicting Nazi soldiers or Zeppelins come up. You get
the WWII collectors or the Zeppelin collectors bidding it out with the
harmonica collectors. I've got my share of Zeppelin and Nazi soldier harps, but
I ain't getting up off a Grand for no Beatles harp. Funny thing is, this isn't
even the REALLY valuable one. Look closely and you will see that George and
Paul's signatures are reversed. The really valuable, and much more rare,
Beatle harmonica has the names correct!
